Top 10 Fastest Cars in the World

As technology continues to improve, so do the capabilities of cars. Every year, new innovations are developed that make cars safer, faster, and more efficient than ever before. Here’s a list of the top 10 fastest cars in the world to give you an idea of how much things can change in just five years!

1) Bugatti Chiron

The Bugatti Chiron is a mid-engined, two-seater sports car, designed and developed by Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S., with only 450 units being built at its Molsheim, France factory. The name Chiron pays homage to French racing driver Louis Chiron. It has a top speed of 261 mph (420 km/h) and it can accelerate from 0–60 mph (97 km/h) in 2.5 seconds, making it one of the fastest production cars ever made along with Ferrari LaFerrari and Porsche 918 Spyder. It costs $2.6 million USD per unit ($3 million CAD).

2) Koenigsegg Agera RS

$1.9 Million: 0-60 MPH: 2.5 Seconds: 217 mph Top Speed: 278 mph Agera RS is a Swedish sports car produced by Koenigsegg since 2011. It was named after its designer, Christian von Koenigsegg, and was introduced at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show as a successor to their previous model, CCXR Edition. The name Agera means to act or to do in Latin. The Agera R/S/RS are all track-focused models with extreme performance. The RS has a power output of 1,140 hp (890 kW) at 7500 rpm and torque of 940 N·m (708 lb·ft) from 5500 to 6500 rpm on E85 fuel.

3) Hennessey Venom F5

The Hennessey Venom F5 is an upcoming American hypercar manufactured by Hennessey Performance Engineering. The Venom F5 will have a top speed of over 290 mph (467 km/h) and a 0-60 mph time of 2.4 seconds. At least 250 cars will be produced, with an estimated price tag of $1,400,000 - $1,600,000 USD. The price tag is not yet official and can change at any time as the development of the car continues. The Venom F5 is set to debut at SEMA 2017.

4) Porsche 918 Spyder

The Porsche 918 Spyder is a mid-engined plug-in hybrid sports car by Porsche, that debuted at the Geneva Motor Show. The 918 will be able to accelerate from 0–97 km/h (0–60 mph) in less than 3.2 seconds, and it can reach 100 mph (160 km/h) in 8.5 seconds. It has an electronically limited top speed of 210 miles per hour (340 km/h). It was named Car of the Year 2013 by the magazine Top Gear. The vehicle was produced in a limited production run of 918 units (895 coupé, 13 roadsters), with deliveries scheduled to begin in September 2013.

5) SSC Aero TT

It is a supercar jointly developed by SSC North America and Aero Supersonic (based in the United Kingdom) on the order of Rocket Science Limited. The car possesses a massive 7.0-liter V8 engine that generates 1250 hp at 6600 rpm and 1180 Nm of torque at 4200 rpm, helping it sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in only 2.4 seconds and hitting 400 km/h in 8.1 seconds. At its maximum speed, it can go up to 1.5 times faster than sound or Mach 1.5. In terms of design, SSC Aero TT features an aerodynamic body with a large front splitter and rear diffuser along with a huge rear wing for optimum downforce generation at high speeds. Other notable features include six-piston calipers with 15-inch carbon-ceramic discs as well as four-wheel ventilated disc brakes for better stopping power under extreme conditions.

6) Koenigsegg Regera

It’s 2017, so I’m making an early call that The Koenigsegg Regera will be one of these fastest cars by 2022. It features a twin-turbo 5.0 L V8 engine and three electric motors (for a total output of 1,500 hp). The car can reach 0–60 mph (97 km/h) in 2.6 seconds and has a top speed of 250 mph (402 km/h). In fact, it’s so fast that it doesn’t even have a traditional gearbox; instead, you just press Go! and let electronics do all of the work for you. Oh yeah—it also comes with a 3D printed titanium exhaust system because why not?

7) Ferrari LaFerrari

The Ferrari LaFerrari is a two-seat grand tourer that debuted at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. With a top speed of over 350 km/h, it’s ranked as one of most fast cars on earth, and with a price tag of over $1 million, it’s one of the most expensive too. The car has an electric motor that delivers more than 163 horsepower to each wheel, making it an all-wheel-drive vehicle capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 3 seconds. It also boasts a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission designed by Formula 1 champion Michael Schumacher.

8) McLaren P1 LM

This Longtail version of McLaren’s P1 has more power, higher top speed, and increased downforce. It can reach 0-60 in 2.4 seconds, 0-100 in 4.0 seconds, and a top speed of 217mph. Only five are being made by McLaren, each for $3 million apiece. Its carbon fiber body makes it lighter than most cars on our list, weighing only 3200 pounds. Its twin-turbo V8 engine produces 986 horsepower. The LM stands for Le Mans, where it set a record of 176 mph average speed over 24 hours with three drivers. It is named after Bruce McLaren, founder of its namesake racing team that went on to win eight Le Mans races from 1966 to 1972. The model was designed to celebrate 50 years since his first win at Le Mans in 1966.

9) Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR Pro

The Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR Pro, unveiled at Autosport International last week, will become one of the most anticipated supercars to ever exist when it hits the market. This halo vehicle is built on a hypercar platform with a hybrid powertrain. The powertrain features an internal combustion engine that uses high-test aviation fuel blended with biofuel sourced from sugar cane. The front axle uses a V8 engine while a turbocharged V6 powers the rear axle.

10) Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse

The Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse will become one of the most exclusive cars in 2022 with only 150 units to be produced. It reaches a top speed of 415 km/h and it takes less than 2.5 seconds to go from 0-60 mph (0-97 km/h). The Vitesse is powered by a W16 engine which generates 1,200 hp and an impressive 1,600 Nm of torque. With a price tag of $2.6 million, it’s no surprise that Bugatti has already sold all 150 units before they even went into production.
